Artist Statement
My paintings are spontaneous, intuitive and instinctive. I begin painting without knowing the outcome. The image reveals itself within its own time. At times I build many layers of paint and then I use a technique of scraping back. With this technique, my work from a distance is bold but up close the viewer is rewarded with depth, texture, color and movement. I invite the viewer to reach out and touch. I also enjoy working with pouring paints. Working with acrylics allows me the most flexibility to express my innermost feelings. I always listen to music as I paint. The music helps generate my emotions and in turn, my brush, through completion of the piece.
“Painting is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done for myself.”
